Genmaicha is a popular Japanese tea; it's often made with a base of bancha, but In Pursuit of Tea uses a blend of high-quality sencha green tea and roasted rice. The style evolved as a way to stretch the tea harvest, and its balanced grassy and nutty flavor remains a favorite.
This lot is grown on a small, century-old family farm in Shizuoka; after the leaves are harvested, steamed and rolled, the finished sencha tea is hand-mixed with roasted rice. Soothing and mellow, the rice adds a wonderful toasted note to this refreshing green tea.
Tasting Notes: toasty, grassy, comforting
Harvest Season: Spring 2019
This is the best! I drink it every morning, it's got puffed and toasted rice, really deep flavor but also light and refreshing. This is easily my favorite tea from In Pursuit of Tea, and one of my favorite teas I've found anywhere.
