An iconic taste of the season, Darjeeling First Flush teas are eagerly awaited each spring. These light-bodied, fragrant teas are produced in small quantities for only a few weeks, usually beginning in early April; only the new young buds and first leaves are harvested by hand, and they undergo a unique hard-wither process.
We selected this lot at Jungpana Estate, walking up to the 5,000-foot elevation farm for the last time—the first direct road to the production facility is slated to open at the end of this year. Founded in 1899, this garden is well known for its distinctive teas. This one exhibits the classic floral and sweet flavor profile, with underlying notes of wintergreen and raw walnut.
