Asaro Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a lovely, fruity taste, with hints of green tomato and ripe olives. Very smooth, it exudes freshness with light pepper on the finish, well balanced with a fresh aroma.
This oil is made with extraordinary care, resulting in astonishingly low acidity. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is often judged on the level of free fatty acids in the final product - fewer free fatty acids is an indicator of better olive oil. .8% is average, .5% is good, and .3% is exceptional. Asaro's EVOO delivers less than .3% acidity - this is what gives it such a striking taste and clarity of flavor.
All of the olives are from the farms controlled by the Asaro family, organically grown and crushed within hours of picking.
Use it as you would any other extra virgin olive oil - it's best as a finishing oil, but lends a noticeable aroma when used to grill, sauté or fry food - used in long, slow cooking it may lose some of its complexity, and its smoke point is lower than the Asaro Olio di Cucina, which can be used as an all-purpose, high smoke point oil.
